So Hing Keung: RED
Contemporary local photographer So Hing Keung is having a “RED SERIES” exhibition within the art gallery in Louis Vuitton flag shop, Tsim Sha Tsui. The red flowers’s window display of the shop seems synchronizing with his art which make the whole picture become much more interesting, just like a present wrapping on top, treasuring something fascinating inside. Such valuable present come up with nervous and strange feeling as it’s require to walk through their “GOLDEN GRAND MIRROR STAIRS” while getting to the second floor gallery. Yes… somehow it is LV’s style, so ! no objection.
Unlike previous So’s collections of mainly using mono tone to express a space, colours with the main character: RED have been implied. Referring to its leaflet, red is having a contradiction between China and the West. In our society it representing something positive, could be wealth, happiness, love etc. Meantime, it is the smell of blood and death within western world. By having totally different understanding of such colour, different messages could be received from the particulars.
My favorite one has been showed on top. It seems two grandparents holding and protecting their lovest children silently. The spread of gold oil on its root provides a room for more imagination, is it means the wealthiness of this family?
